Rob Schroeder developed his passion for photography after graduating from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. In 1996 he found training at Hedrich Blessing Photographers in Chicago, Illinois. An architectural photography firm, Hedrich Blessing proved to be a great learning ground, giving Rob an education in both the technical aspects of photography, as well as the business of photography. Rob mentored under accomplished photographers Jim Hedrich, Steve Hall, and Scott McDonald, among others. Rob departed Hedrich Blessing for a position in the studio of gifted commercial portrait photographer, Sandro. Dealing mainly in advertising and annual report work, Sandro’s energetic studio kept Rob busy, working continuously for up to nine months at a time. Sandro’s real passion, though, was shooting celebrities. During his tenure, Rob had the opportunity to gain firsthand experience photographing sports heroes from Michael Jordan to John Elway as well as a cadre of famous actors, such as John Malkovich and Gary Sinise. In 2002 Rob became the staff photographer for the LVMH online retailer, eLUXURY, in San Francisco. Brands such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Fendi, and Marc Jacobs were regularly on Rob’s shot list. Rob is currently a freelance commercial photographer living in Orinda, California. When not shooting he can be found riding his motorcycle in the Sierra Nevada mountains or planning his next trip abroad. He is also a foster parent for animals awaiting adoption at the San Francisco SPCA. Robert J. Schroeder photography is committed to being a steward of the environment.
