From 1911 through World War II, German photographer August Sander, worked on an extensive portrait project. His work culminated in a series called “The People of the 20th Century.” The rich detail and historical significance of his work inspired me to embark on “The People of the 21st Century.” My aim is to show the similarities and differences in the professions, clothing styles, and environment of today’s society with the one documented by Sander.
